Niagara’s South Coast is the perfect bird sanctuary year round! For particularly unique watching spring and fall migration periods offer excellent bird watching along the shore of Lake Erie and in the area’s wetlands. Whether it’s tundra swans stopping for a rest from their flight northbound, or the return of the bald eagle in recent years, there is an abundance of winged activity.
With excellent vantage points, snap photos of songbirds in the Carolinian forest areas, or visit the designated bird area near Nickel Beach in Port Colborne, home to some of the region’s protected species. Niagara’s South Coast provides ample opportunity to observe these beautiful and interesting creatures.
